Full job description Covert Public Schools is located in Van Buren County, Michigan, home of the Bulldogs. Covert was established in 1865 where rich timberlands initially attracted early settlers to the community. State parks along Lake Michigan provide picnic areas for family get-togethers. Lake Michigan's summer outdoor recreation opportunities include paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, and fishing. Winter activities include cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling trails. Activities in between the seasons include biking and hiking trails.
Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Education required. Current State teaching certificate required. EQ endorsement is preferred. Teaching experience is preferred. GENERAL DESCRIPTION The classroom teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing high-quality instruction for all students using a variety of methodologies and curriculum resources while teaching basic and complex mathematical principles, equations, formulas, and calculations, and ensuring that all students meet grade level content expectations; clear and timely communication to parents of standards and students' achievements and deficiencies; teaching good study habits and monitoring and assessing academic processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Responsible for student learning. Maintain a safe and orderly classroom. Plan and implement classroom instruction using best practices and strategies which effects student learning. Manage students and set up classroom routines which enhance student learning and reduce abhorrent behavior. Teaches knowledge and skills in mathematics. Design learning activities to demonstrate the application of mathematics to everyday existence and problem solving. Develop relationships with students and parents that enhance the learning environment. Communication effectively with parents regarding student achievement and behavior. Continually improve professional practice and engagement activities to maximize skill set to improve student achievement. Work collaboratively with colleagues and administration to meet goals of building/district. Effectively use data to make decisions relevant to instruction. Knowledgeable content so as to have capacity to modify and develop curriculum to maximize student achievement. Attend staff meetings and district planned professional development. Maintain complete and accurate student and academic records. Order and maintain appropriate levels of textbook and instructional materials and equipment. Maintain and improve professional knowledge and skills. Follow directives from the principal. Sets an example of intellectual curiosity and critical thinking, self- motivation, and self- discipline for students. Comply with School Board policies and all state and federal regulations. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or superintendent. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
