Job Summary The mechanical assembly group builds precision mechanical subassemblies and integrates them into higher-level assemblies. The skill set requires use of mechanical assembly tools, i.e. wrenches, drivers, machining tools, precision measurement devices, gauges, etc.
Job Function Prepares work to be accomplished by studying parts lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials Works from visual aids, method layouts, diagrams, mechanical drawings, process flow sheets and written or verbal assembly instructions Reads mechanical drawings or similar documentation, then builds to those specifications. Can do basic disassembly, rework, reassemble to engineering directions Assist in the training of other employees, addressing and resolving inquiries and problems Review assembly processes and methods and recommend changes to ensure the continuous, ongoing improvement of productivity and quality Perform basic metal fabrication; (ie - drilling, tapping, cutting metal) Able to work on multiple product lines without supervision in team and individual work environments Have the ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate a strong motivation towards teamwork. Demonstrates and applies a solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing and related principles. Willingly participates in Shared Responsibility and continuous improvement teams. Requirements High School graduate Craftsman skill level with assembly hand tools, machining tools, and electrical measurement tools Computer skills – MS Office competency, some CAD experience preferred Understand when to request guidance from superiors and proper chain of command. Neat, accurate, and consistent work Works well independently and assumes responsibility for their own work Attention to detail and ability to retain communicated information. Appropriate communication skills to convey information to other associates and supervisors. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
