Responsibilities
• Plan and direct quality control of materials for highway construction and maintenance• Administer and maintain Certified Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) program• Ensure district materials sampling and testing are conducted according to policies and standards• Ensure compliance with INDOT safety policies and procedures• Serve as a resource for proposal development and research process• Coordinate programs and plans for the division/department• Assist in the development of programs and research development• Review research proposals and report to ensure accuracy and effectiveness• Organize, conduct, and review engineering investigations and field observations• Assist in analyzing engineering data and developing technical guidelines
Requirements
• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school• Registered Professional Engineers license in Indiana (or working towards licensure)• At least four years of experience in engineering or related area• Valid Indiana Driver's License• Extensive knowledge of civil engineering theories and principles• Broad knowledge of planning, design, or construction of highway or transportation projects• Extensive knowledge of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations• Considerable knowledge of computer aided design and drafting functions• Ability to prepare and review complex design plans and reports• Ability to perform mathematical computations applied to design operations• Extensive knowledge of AASHTO Design Specifications and ASTM Standards• Working knowledge of Indiana Design Manual, IMUTCD, and INDOT standard specifications
