Full job description I.General Summary:
To perform Quality functional validation requirements to meet engineering, design, and customer requirements. Manages execution of inspection practices for incoming and outgoing products to ensure product meets or exceeds customer expectations.
II.Essential Job Functions:
A.Manage daily Manufacturing output for all commodities including Seats, Doors, Carpets, Headliners, FPT (Filter and Powertrain), and Sun visors.
B.Effectively communicate Prototype plan/status in Obeya/Kobeya Meetings.
C.Manage Quality and Manufacturing teams to maintain customer requirements for all customer orders and program milestones & manage statistical reports.
D.Develop Confirmation Vehicle (CV) manpower plans and negotiate with TBA Production management to establish support plans for CV activity.
E.Train team members on how to read and interpret engineering documentation including drawings, Engineering Change Instructions (ECI), communication memos, Prototype Parts Requests (PPR), etc.
F.Communicate and negotiate effectively with both supply base and customers regarding quality related issues.
G.Create clear presentation material to communicate status and results of Quality and Manufacturing plans to management.
H.Travel to TBA suppliers, TBA plants, and customers to support build and quality activity for pre-production milestones.
III.Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Experience:
Significant prior experience in Quality management in an automotive production environment. Experience dealing with customers and supply base to ensure product delivery. Greater than eight (8) years functional leadership experience as a supervisor. Experience with a Tier 1 automotive supplier for interior components such as seats, door trim, headliners, carpet, or sun visors is a plus. Experience in multiple OEM (GM, Toyota, Daimler, VW, Honda, Navistar/Paccar) systems and terminology is a plus. Personal/Technical Skills:
Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering documents such as automotive drawings (component, assembly, and equipment), technical standards, general tolerances, critical characteristics, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), ECI, PPR, and color instructions. Effective leadership and people skills. Ability to multi-task, handle diversity, and provide leadership through problem resolution. Must demonstrate commitment, entrepreneurship, innovation, perseverance, professionalism, self-discipline, and teamwork skills. Active listener with effective communication skills. Strong organization, analytical, and planning skills. Able to work in a multicultural work environment. Ability to lead team members in a fast paced, short lead time environment. Ability to manage multiple projects and team members simultaneously Effective problem identification and resolution skills. Ability to create reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to function both independently and in a team environment. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work effectively within time constraints and deadlines, and handle stressful situations. Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex information in written and spoken English. Listen well, ask relevant questions, and give and receive clear and understandable instructions. Ability to communicate and work well with all levels inside and outside of the organization. Must be self-motivated, goal oriented, quality-driven, and capable of working with minimum supervision. Language Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Japanese and/or Spanish is a plus. Computer/Software:
Solid working knowledge and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Lotus Notes/Outlook, Internet, etc.). Ability to perform CMM Programming such as CAM2 and Rapid form. IV.Work Environment/Conditions:
Office: Open Office Environment, moderate noise level.
Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.
Travel: Must be willing to travel up to 30% of the time.
V.Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time and is occasionally required to lift, move, and carry up to 30 pounds.
