Full job description The Research Specialist will assist with laboratory experiments focused on nuclear forensics studies.
JOB DUTIES: 40% - Essential - Laboratory Studies: Designs and conducts laboratory studies examining trace element and radionuclide sorption to natural minerals.
25% - Essential - Data Processing: Data processing and evaluation.
20% - Essential - Measurement of trace element, organic carbon, and radionuclide concentrations in the sample.
15% - Essential - Collection of field samples from local watersheds.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: A high school diploma and work experience in a related health care setting or in a clinical or research laboratory setting; or 12 semester hours of academic training in biology and/or chemistry; or registration as a Certified Laboratory Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or an equivalent registry; or successful completion of a formal program of instruction for laboratory assistants at a hospital or academic institution.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences, or a related field
Preferred Education Area: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Geology

COMPENSATION INFORMATION Expected Salary Range: ($ 11.30 - $ 15.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
