Immigration Legal AssistantLocation: Silver Spring, MDThe International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to humanitarian crises worldwide.

Responsibilities
• Provide clients with information about immigration benefits and assist them in completing applications.• Respond to client inquiries and submit inquiries on case status to USCIS and/or DOS.• Process correspondence from USCIS and DOS and assist clients in preparing responses.• Maintain accurate files and case notes, meet reporting requirements, and assist in completing reports.• Represent the IRC with clients, community members, and partners.• Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical practices.• Pursue DOJ accreditation, if necessary and approved.• Conduct community outreach and support events for legal services.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience.• Effective communication in a multi-cultural environment with Limited English Proficient populations.• Ability to work in a team or take initiative independently.• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and online software.• Excellent written and spoken English, proficiency in another language preferred.• Dedication to immigrant rights, social justice, and/or human rights.• Preferred experience in immigration legal or social services.• Familiarity with immigration software and data entry management.• Community-based outreach and/or immigrant rights promotion experience.
