The Research Agronomist/Territory Manager, works to implement a prescribed camelina research trial program to develop commercial camelina varieties and best agronomic practices. The RA/TM will work from a remote location that allows daily field visits within this geography. The RA/TM assists with the planning and execution of a field breeding program, including off-site yield trials and nurseries, for breeding and agronomic protocols to improve camelina yields and is also responsible for assisting with yield trial data review and resource organization. Additionally, the RA/TM is responsible for the relationship with growers in their assigned region. This is a partnership with our growers to ensure a successful camelina crop for both the grower and Sustainable Oils and the RA/TM plays a key role in establishing, building, and maintaining these relationships. This position requires the candidate to live in Kansas or Oklahoma only. Manage field research trials including land selection and contracting, site development, as well as all aspects of agronomic trial management, including seeding, spraying, maintenance and harvest. Contributes to the management plan. Translate research agronomy trials into improved camelina best management practices, providing greater returns for camelina growers. Supports the sales group as needed by troubleshooting commercial camelina fields when needed. Initiate and maintain contact with present and potential customers through sales calls and associated travel. Participate/present in trade shows and field days, along with related activities in a professional manner. Provide a high level of service for camelina production to customers while demonstrating a wide understanding of cropping systems and expertise in the field. Strive to meet acreage targets while ensuring overall camelina quality. Maintain a high level of communication with the customers, other Territory Managers, and the Commercial Manager, acting as the liaison between these groups. Provide creative, practical, and consistent solutions for grower issues as they arise. Required Skills/Abilities: Experience in a small plot research program/data collection/agriculture sales and marketing Demonstrated knowledge in crop and seed production Knowledge with Microsoft Applications Strong organizational skills, emphasis on time management Strong communication and interpersonal skills Clean driving record with ability to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire. Required to obtain commercial applicators license within 6 months of hire. Motivated self-starter with results and solution orientation and the ability to sustain a professional growth strategy while working independently Highly developed customer service skills with a proven ability to develop and sustain strong customer relationships. Engage in activities and contributes/participates in the company safety program Demonstrated knowledge of research equipment use, repair and maintenance preferred Experience with digital mapping and CRM applications preferred  Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in agriculture, business, marketing or related field required Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Prolonged periods of standing and walking Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time Requires frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring equipment and materials Other duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
