Join a vibrant, expanding team as our new Human Resources and Payroll Specialist! This role is ideal for someone located in the Greater Bay Area who brings a robust skill set in payroll management, employee onboarding, compliance, and general HR responsibilities. Role Details:
This primarily remote position offers the flexibility to work from home with occasional visits to our offices in East Bay—typically a few days each month—to collaborate and engage with the team directly.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee payroll processing and expense reimbursements.
Maintain accurate employee records and manage claims related to worker's compensation and unemployment insurance.
Develop and implement HR policies, processes, and systems to streamline operations.
Coordinate background checks, drug screens, medical examinations, and other pre-employment requirements.
Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including labor laws concerning daily meal and break times.
Support employee needs related to timesheets and other inquiries.
Represent the organization at local hiring events and participate in relevant training sessions.
Requirements:
Proven proactive and independent work style, ready to take initiative in a dynamic environment.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and follow-up skills.
Excellent time management abilities with a consistent track record of meeting deadlines.
Knowledgeable about employment laws, hiring regulations, and HR best practices.
Experienced with Applicant Tracking Systems and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs.
Education and Experience:
At least 3 years of experience in a generalist HR role, covering the duties mentioned above.
An Associate's degree (AA) or Bachelor's degree (BA) is strongly preferred.
Work Arrangement:
This role is 75% remote.
