Responsibilities:
Management:
- Support and effectively manage all HR functions.
- Mentor and provide feedback to HR generalists.
- Manage and resolve escalated generalist and client issues with professionalism.
- Address employee questions promptly and with empathy.
- Collaborate with the AVP of HR Client Services and HR Directors for talent strategy, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Lead research, implementation, and enforcement of policies to ensure compliance with changing laws.
- Create cross-training opportunities for the HR team across clients, fostering professional development.
- Assist in creating learning and development programs for internal team growth.
Operations:
- Serve as Project Manager for the Trello project management tool, ensuring efficient utilization and timely completion of work.
- Manage client email flow, daily administrative workflow, systems, and reporting for client sites.
- Lead proactive internal audits of client files to ensure best practices.
- Oversee quality assurance of offer letters.
Client Facing and Advisory:
- Lead "Service Management" for all clients, including existing clients.
- Prepare client-facing communications (e.g., quarterly newsletters).
- Lead the onboarding process for new clients, ensuring a thorough and uniform experience.
- Determine and enforce appropriate service level agreements for each client.
- Initiate and conduct employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations with tact and professionalism.
- Serve as an HR steward of best practices and employment law, including navigating complexities of union interaction.
Generalist:
- Serve as a generalist as needed, supporting talent acquisition, including interviewing, hiring, and collaborating with Talent Acquisition to understand required skills and competencies.
- Manage various HR tasks, such as conducting background checks, verifications, and I-9 validation, administering leaves and benefits, leading annual open enrollments and investigations, and updating HRIS with status and compensation changes.
- Interpret Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and handbook policies.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 5+ years of HR experience, including talent acquisition, benefits administration, and talent management.
- Bachelor's degree in HR, business administration, or a related field.
- Experience working with HRIS systems.
Preferred:
- A minimum of 1 year of HR generalist experience in a fast-paced, high-growth consulting firm managing diverse client portfolios.
- Experience in K-12 education HR support.
- Experience with the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services, the Illinois Department of Human Resources, SAMHSA, EEO, and funding reporting and audits.
- SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP/PHR/SPHR certification.
- Experience with collective bargaining agreements and union settings.
