Job summary
Provide identified gifted and talented students with appropriate learning experiencesWork with administrators and teachers to provide supplemental support for increasing advanced student achievementWork is performed under the regular supervision of the Principal

Responsibilities
• Facilitate specialized subject matter(s) and motivate all students to achieve maximum potential• Design and implement interdisciplinary units of study• Use open-ended and problem-solving approaches to instruction• Flexibility and confidence in working with gifted students, parents, and staff• Evaluate students' progress, maintain records, and prepare progress reports• Communicate with students, student counselors, and parents through conferences and other means• Identify gifted and talented students on an annual cycle• Participate in faculty committees and student activity sponsorship• Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities• Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Gifted Education
Requirements
• Thorough knowledge of subject(s) and education principles• Ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior• Ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships• Ability to operate a personal computer• Must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in education or a related field• Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Collegiate Professional License, Postgraduate Professional License, or Provisional License with appropriate endorsement
