MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:• Utilize empirical, numerical, and analytical methods to design and evaluate ground support patterns• Independently inspect working areas and generate documentation and reports for activities including corrosion mapping, ground support QAQC inspections, and re-entry inspections.• Work with Mining Engineers to develop and update mine plans to include geotechnical considerations• Manage the expansion and calibration of the microseismic system• Plan, monitor and track ground support rehabilitation activities• Review monthly mine plans for potential geotechnical concerns using field mapping, core photographs, core logs, and modeling.• Update the life of mine stress model and assess the impact of stope design and sequence changes on induced stresses• Assist in the installation and maintenance of instrumentation and telemetry systems underground and on surface• Collect, analyze, and report on geotechnical monitoring data• Coordinate with multiple departments and contractors to plan and execute geotechnical projects• Develop and present training for the underground workforce in geotechnical issues and ground support• Assist with underground geotechnical mapping and geotechnical core logging• Other duties as assignedEDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:• Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Geological Engineering or equivalent required• 3-5 years of rock mechanics experience in an operational setting – UG experience preferred• Experience in areas of geotechnical investigations and ground support design and evaluation required• Exposure to mine design software (Deswik, Vulcan) preferred• Exposure to Map3D software preferred• Proficiency with Rocscience Suite of software (Dips, Unwedge, RS2) required• High level of proficiency with MS Office Suite required• Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administrations (MSHA) act and regulations• Strong analytical abilities along with good communication skills• Ability to work independently• Project management skillsKEY PERSONAL COMPETENCIES:• Action Oriented - Initiates timely action to address important issues.• Collaborates - Encourages unity rather than us vs. them thinking• Communicates Effectively - Clear, concise, and professional in communication.• Decision Quality - Considers various inputs, criteria, and trade-offs to arrive at effective decisions and recommendations.• Ensures accountability - Follows through on commitments.• Manages Ambiguity - Accepts needed change despite the uncertainty it brings.
