Job Duties We are looking for professionals with fiscal experience to drive the business operations of the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The Richmond District, Chesterfield Residency, is seeking an individual to provide financial support and services to included maintaining, calculating, researching, validating, and performing data input for various accounting transactions for the Chesterfield Residency. Transactions may include time and attendance, accounts payable, procurement, SPCC (Small Purchase Charge Card), travel, inventory, and other related fiscal service transactions. You will review data entry of employee regular and overtime, data input of employee leave and run reports; receive, verify and reconcile invoices to Cardinal receiver, enter data into FDMS and create voucher in Cardinal for payment; review charge distributions for accuracy and ensure documentation has appropriate signatures, approvals and required SWAM documentation; prepare requisitions and purchase orders; receive, verify and reconcile SPCC; review and perform data entry of travel and employee reimbursements; key inventory data and run monthly reports; solicit quotes for goods/services not on established contracts. Minimum Qualifications ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers and to work independently or as a team member Experience performing data entry into automated financial systems. knowledge of basic accounting, math and business principles skill in the use of computers and software applications to include MS Office, automated financial and inventory systems Experience interpreting and applying basic policy, procedures and implement procedural and transactional changes. Knowledge of office and program support activities. Experience with file management to include purging and disposing of files in accordance with records retention guidelines and schedules. Skill in performing basic math calculations Experience preparing financial reports and running queries.
Additional Considerations Experience applying knowledge of GAAP, government accounting, internal controls, inventory and compliance. Exceptional customer service skills or ability to effectively and professionally communicate with difficult customers.  Knowledge and experience processing accounts payable. Knowledge and experience performing account reconciliations and tracking time/attendance. Experience using Cardinal or a similar automated financial management system preferred. A combination of training, experience or education in bookkeeping, Accounting or related field desire. a combination of training, experience, or education in accounting. Accounts Payable, Accounts receivable or related field desired.
