Fiber Splicer

Job summary
The Fiber Splicer is responsible for the installation of new cable lines, both underground and on utility poles, and performs maintenance on existing cables.They also troubleshoot fiber utilizing an OTDR and have strong communication skills for collaboration with tech ops managers.Safety regulations knowledge and the ability to work independently are required for this position.

Responsibilities
• Utilize Fusion Splicer to splice Loose Tube & Ribbon fiber cable.• Prep/Splice single-mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) optical fiber cables.• Troubleshooting of fiber utilizing an OTDR.• Maintain equipment and vehicle to a high standard.• Coordinate with tech ops managers to verify and perform work as directed.• Be able to iterate to the project/construction managers detailed accounts of field activity, both verbal and written.• Night work as needed for things like node splits.• Able to be on call for emergencies involving damaged cable.• Must know ribbon fiber.• Must know fiber to the home.
