Fertility Law Paralegal

Fertility Law Paralegal
Company:

Essig & Evans, Llp

Job Function:

Legal

Details of the offer

Are you a career paralegal? Do you thrive in a collaborative setting? And would you feel fulfilled by helping clients build families through surrogacy and gamete/embryo donation?
If so, you may be a great fit with us at Essig & Evans, LLC, a boutique Family Law and Fertility Law firm located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Our clients are intended parents and surrogates, recipients and donors, married and single, and of all sexual orientations.
What you can expect from us:
-A small, close-knit team of drama-free colleagues who love what they do.
-Work in a meaningful, unique, and niche area of law (experience in fertility law not required).
-Part-time schedule to start with the plan of growing into a full-time schedule over the next several years.
What you can expect from the position:
The Fertility Law Paralegal supports the Fertility Law department and reports to the Fertility Law partners. Most of the duties and responsibilities, and most of the Fertility Law Paralegal's focus and time, is directly related to legal functions within the firm and include:
-Drafting and preparing legal documents, including, but not limited to, letters, agreements, and pleadings.
-Organizing and archiving files and matters for attorneys; organization is key to our success.
-Preparing and filing pleadings, which may be electronic or via delivery.
-Communicating with clients, courts, doctor offices, administrative offices, government offices, and other involved parties.
-Administrative legal work related to: conflict checks, CLE organization and reporting, inputting expenses and billing, trips to court, and state bar licensing.
-Documenting and at times creating work systems and procedures.
-Staying on top of legislation that could impact our work.
-Other work or projects that may be requested from time to time.
In addition to work directly related to legal functions, the Fertility Law Paralegal will assist with the Fertility Law department's efforts to market and build authority. This includes, but is not limited to:
-Finding and securing opportunities for and assisting with the creation and preparation of Fertility Law attorneys' speaking and writing engagements.
-Supporting Fertility Law attorneys' community involvement and networking.
-Assisting, and possibly managing, social media (e.g. content creation, planning and strategizing, photography, analytics, etc…).
-Drafting content, including blog posts, social media posts, e-books, etc…
-Other work or projects that may be requested from time to time.
Finally, as a small law firm, attorneys and staff often need to wear many hats. The Fertility Law Paralegal may be asked to assist with other duties as time and the position evolves, and/or may be asked to assist with the Family Law department or firm generally, including with trips to a court.
What we'll expect from you:
-The highest degree of paralegal practice, professionalism, attention to detail, and ethics.
-Excellent and timely communication.
-Empathy and kindness towards all clients participating in collaborative reproduction.
-Outstanding writing and contract drafting skills.
-Fluency in Word and Microsoft Office.
-Ability to be flexible, coachable, and open to feedback.
-A growth mindset and team player mentality.
