Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of Missoula
Job classification: Exempt.
Summary
The Executive Director is the leader of Habitat for Humanity of Missoula and, subject to the control of the Board of Directors, and responsible for supervising and controlling the management of the organization in accordance with the Habitat for Humanity International standards, Habitat for Humanity of Missoula bylaws, Board-approved policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.
The Executive Director reports to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and the Board of Directors as a whole.

Duties
The duties of the Executive Director include, but are not limited to:
Strategic Management
Work closely with the Board to create and adapt strategies to achieve meaningful impact

In conjunction with the Board, develop and oversee the organization's overall construction mission

Organizational Management
Build and lead a high-performing team of employees and maintain a work environment which attracts and motivates staff and volunteers

Assess organizational capacity and supervise all staff in compliance with the organization's human resources policies and procedures; establish clear staff goals and metrics and conduct reviews annually at minimum

Oversee building projects from land acquisition through construction in collaboration with the build team

Coordinate all aspects of the lending process, including facilitating the closing of home loans in compliance with Habitat for Humanity International standards, Board-approved policies, and all applicable laws and regulations

Provide general oversight to the organization's ReStore to ensure ReStore management and goals align with the organization as a whole

Financial Management
Hold accountability for the operational and fiscal integrity of the organization within the annual budget and the policies developed by the Board

Work closely with the finance committee to develop and track the budget and ensure completion of audits and other required reporting activities

Promote a culture of fundraising; identify, cultivate and solicit prospective donors to ensure a diverse funding base

Oversee grant applications, grant management, and grant reporting

Community Impact
Work collaboratively with relevant government organizations, faith communities, business, civic and volunteer organizations, foundations or other charitable giving organizations, and the public at large

Establish positive working relationships and cooperative arrangements with volunteers, home sponsors, partner families, community groups, and other organizations

Serve as spokesperson for the affiliate, establish good media relationships, and oversee the creation of internal and external publications

Committee and Board Support
Serve as the principal resource to the Board and provide direction in strategic planning, policy development, and policy interpretation

In conjunction with the Board, establish clear delineation of roles and responsibilities between staff, committees, the Executive Director and the Board

Foster and maintain a culture of collaboration between committees, staff and the Board; assist the committee chairs and facilitate efficient communication flow

Monitor the progress of all committees and support their efficient operation; as appropriate, attend committee meetings and assist committee members in completing their duties

General Administration
Maintain official records and documents of the organization, including confidential records, operations and policies manuals, and ensure compliance with Habitat for Humanity International standards, Habitat for Humanity of Missoula bylaws, Board-approved policies, and all applicable laws and regulations

Understand, interpret, implement and uphold the organization's policies and procedures, including financial management and human resources, and recommend to the Board changes to current policies and procedures as are necessary

Establish office procedures and guidelines

Other
Seek Board, committee, or outside support and training to help clarify or accomplish any of the foregoing expectations, as needed

Additional duties may be assigned

The foregoing description is an outline of the duties and responsibilities of the Executive Director and serves as the basis for both hiring and evaluation. The duties and responsibilities may be subject to change at any time based on the needs of the organization.

Desired Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
The Executive Director must possess an understanding of and commitment to the mission of Habitat for Humanity of Missoula
Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following skills, abilities and knowledge:
Skills
Functional proficiency with the Microsoft Suite, Sharepoint and Quickbooks; experience with CRMs a plus

Functional understanding of and ability to interpret basic accounting principles and complex financial reports

Demonstrated effective leadership

Abilities
Establish, foster, and maintain effective working relationships with the Board staff, partners, volunteers, donors and the public

Anticipate, identify, and resolve problems in a timely manner

Gather and synthesize complex and/or diverse information

Listen attentively and communicate clearly and persuasively in a variety of settings and to a variety of constituencies

Create a sustainable long-term roadmap in alignment with the organizational mission that includes achievable short-term goals

Knowledge
Fundraising principles and processes

Planning, permitting, city and county zoning regulations and the construction process

Safety procedures and the appropriate use of equipment and materials

Mortgage procedures

Human resource law, rules, and regulations
