Full job description Job Description Events & Audience Development Manager Springfield Business Journal Springfield Business Journal is in search of a driven and well-organized professional to take on the role of Events & Audience Development Manager and play a pivotal role in boosting our publication's readership and events. Reporting directly to the Publisher, the ideal candidate will lead subscription efforts, spearhead all subscription growth, and orchestrate the success of market events. This dynamic position requires a keen eye for customer service, user experience, adept vendor management skills, strategic foresight, and prowess in applying digital marketing to bolster event and circulation initiatives, attract new subscribers, and craft compelling and impactful events that resonate with our community and advertisers. Job Title: Events & Audience Development Manager
Location: Springfield Business Journal
Salary Range: $50,000 with opportunities for commission
Audience and Subscription Growth: · Direct all subscription activities, including distribution, subscription management, and delivery operations.
· Monitor market trends to optimize subscription rates and services.
· Collaborate with vendors, distributors, and production facilities to ensure seamless operations.
· Work with SBJ Director of Marketing to develop and execute sales and marketing strategies to achieve print and online subscription targets.
· Maintain open communication with the sales team and leadership team to align strategies.
· Track and report on print and online subscription metrics, delivering regular updates and reports.
· Partner with internal stakeholders (admin support, Marketing, Sales, Editorial, Production) to implement effective circulation strategies and initiatives.
Event Planning and Execution: · Is responsible for executing current events and future SBJ events.
· Conceptualize progressive event ideas aligned with client objectives and industry trends.
· Conduct thorough market research to recommend strategies for event differentiation.
· Establish feedback channels for continual event enhancement and client satisfaction.
· Collaborate with leadership and advertising teams for seamless event coordination.
· Work with Marketing to develop comprehensive event marketing campaigns across diverse channels for optimal outreach.
· Ensure smooth execution of award ceremonies by overseeing the process of seeking nominations, organizing applications, and communicating with award winners, partners, and sponsors as a key responsibility.
Vendor and Sponsor Collaboration: · Cultivate and sustain relationships with vendors, caterers, hotels, and other event partners.
· Liaise with sponsors to seamlessly integrate their content within events for maximum exposure.
· Lead negotiations with vendors to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
· Offer creative solutions for heightened sponsor engagement and partnership expansion in collaboration with the SBJ Leadership team.
· Coordinate innovative sponsor activations to enhance the event attendee experience.
Professional Growth and Knowledge Sharing: · Proactively seek out industry best practices, innovative solutions and training sessions to stay abreast of event management trends.
· Share insights and expertise with the team to foster continual learning and advancement.
· Encourage inter-departmental collaboration to leverage collective knowledge for impactful events.
· Stay updated on technological advancements in virtual event platforms to enhance attendee engagement.
Qualifications: A college degree or equivalent work experience.
· 3-5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
· Proficiency in Office 365 suite, Zoom, Teams, WebEx, and other virtual meeting platforms.
· Understanding digital resources for processes using software like Basecamp, Squad Up and in-house subscription software to maximize technological efficiencies.
· Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
· Capacity to thrive under tight deadlines within a fast-paced setting.
· Experience in coordinating with vendors, sponsors, and cross-functional teams.
