Job Description:Summary:Barr is seeking a senior environmental scientist or engineer to undertake challenging work involving environmental monitoring and problem-solving in the air-quality field throughout the United States to help expand our in-house capabilities.The person selected for this position will work on highly collaborative project teams assisting clients with air-quality performance testing or ambient air monitoring and related technical assignments. Work will include preparation or oversight of test plans, communications with regulatory agencies, technical reports, deployment of sampling equipment, and analysis of analytes. The successful candidate will both work with and lead project teams and own client relationships.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering or related science degree3 years of professional experience working with federal and state environmental programs under the federal CAA, specifically with air quality testingExperience with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clientsDemonstrated ability to fulfill commitments on schedule and to do what it takes to meet clients' service expectations and requirementsStrong technical and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness, as well as a commitment to producing high-quality deliverablesEffectiveness in building working relationships and working on multidiscipline project teamsA flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedule as required to meet project deadlines and/or client needsSelf-initiative and motivation, with an emphasis on client service and cultivating a career in environmental consultingAbility to travel to client locations and other Barr offices up to 50%Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futurePreferred Qualifications:Engineering or scientific knowledge and experience in the power, fuels, mining, and/or manufacturing industriesExperience as a lead FTIR operator using EPA Method 320Demonstrated organization and management skillsAptitude for developing client relationships and businessAbility to identify problem symptoms and causes, and develop and evaluate alternative solutionsAbility to process complex or rapidly developing information to extract key issues and implications and develop appropriate strategiesA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office.
