About the opportunity:
At Jerry, we are building the first AllCar super app to help people optimize all aspects of owning a car, an essential expense that costs the average person more than 20% of their income every year. We started with insurance in 2019, and since then we've launched loan refinancing, real-time driving insights, car diagnostics, repair marketplace, and a GPT-4 chatbot.
We are looking for a Technical Lead/Manager who is obsessed with optimization and speed to join our organic user growth team! Reporting directly to our co-founder and CTO, Musawir Shah, you will be responsible for leading the technical direction of a small and robust team that is vital in getting Jerry from 5M to 50M users by 2030. We have aggressive goals to scale our business within the next couple of years, and it is imperative that we build a powerful, all-encompassing system that can acclimate to any and all search engines. Optimization and speed are your domains, and you will stop at nothing to ensure that code quality across our product is exemplary. Driving innovation in a $2T market is no easy feat but if you're up for the challenge, we'd love to hear from you!
What you'll do:
Lead and mentor a team of engineers to help them excel in their roles by continuously providing guidance and feedback
Proactively identify technical risks and gaps, troubleshoot complex issues, and mitigate any potential problems that may arise in the future
Collaborate with PMs, data scientists, and other stakeholders to outline projects and plan solutions for a successful execution
Be the gatekeeper for code quality by ensuring scalability, readability, and performance
Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth by sharing knowledge and ideas
Who you are:
BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, engineering, or a related field
7+ years of experience in software development and 1.5+ years of experience in people management (preferred)
Hold an exceptionally high bar for code efficiency and quality
Have a strong sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability

Language and frameworks: Typescript: Nest.js, Next.js, React, React Native, Expo
API: GraphQL
DB: Postgres, DynamoDB, Clickhouse, Redis
Infrastructure: Built on AWS, microservice architecture with containerized services deployed on ECS and EKS. Asynchronous processing functions running on Lambda.
