Job summary
District Traffic Engineer in the Lynchburg District OfficeResponsible for strategic leadership and management of the District Traffic Engineering SectionOversee traffic engineering studies, project management, and traffic design
Job seniority: mid-to-senior level
Responsibilities
• Direct traffic engineering studies, plan reviews, and project management• Supervise and provide direction to the District Traffic Engineering Section• Manage the secondary system traffic count data collection program• Address roadway safety and operational problems through traffic engineering studies• Provide final approval for design and installation of traffic control devices• Manage the Virginia Highway Safety Improvement Program (VHSIP) and High Risk Rural Roadways (HRRR) program• Develop and manage the Traffic Operations Engineering Budget
Requirements
• Experience applying traffic engineering principles to solve complex traffic problems• Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to traffic engineering• Experience in leadership roles and handling large-scale projects• Knowledge of supervisory and management practices• Experience developing and managing budgets and contracts• Professional Engineering license (PE) required• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field• Progressively responsible experience in managing traffic engineering operations• Significant project management and strategic planning experience• Experience in working with local governments and engineering consultants
