Reimagine What's Possible Sr Piping Stress Engineer Roles and Responsibilities: We are seeking a Sr Piping Stress Engineer within our GEMTE team located at our work location. This position requires 10-20 % domestic. The engineer in this role will: Perform pipe stress analysis on piping systems within and external to LNG coil wound heat exchangers per applicable industry codes and standards.
Work with process, piping system, pressure vessel, and structural design team members to incorporate piping system guides, supports, and other hardware into overall project scope of design.
Review and approve piping system drawings, procedures, and other associated deliverables.
Utilize software platforms including SmartPlant 3D, AutoPIPE, and NozzlePRO to assess piping system stresses, deflections, stiffness, and other design parameters.
Engage LNG customers to complete piping system model reviews, ensuring compliance with governing industry standards and contractual design requirements such as ASME B31.3, Process Piping.
Engage material suppliers and system fabricators via pre-inspection meetings, model reviews, site audits/visits, and ad hoc meetings to communicate system requirements and troubleshoot issues.
Create and review contractual technical specifications to define piping system scope of supply and design requirements, including interpretation and optimization of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Lead internal piping system Continuous Improvement projects such as integration of new software platforms and updating design methodologies and tools.
Engage in occasional domestic and international travel to our Port Manatee manufacturing facility, global customer offices, piping system fabricator facilities, and industry trade shows and conferences. Required Skills / Abilities: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related technical discipline with accredited ABET degree) 5 to 10 years of related experience – more experience a plus Proficiency in: Piping design software tools such as AutoPIPE or Caesar II Piping stress of Cryogenic Piping system with knowledge of Slug Flow and it's determination and support methods ASCE and IBC wind and seismic codes/analysis ASME BPVC, ASME B31.3 Familiarity with various available industry vendor catalogues to select and design spring supports Dynamic analysis techniques and software AISC Steel Construction Manual or similar AWS welding codes or similar ASTM material standards for carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum Other software platforms including: SmartPlant 3D or similar Solidworks or Microstation Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools such as NozzlePro, FEPipe, ANSYS Microsoft Office, MathCAD
