POSITION SUMMARY: HIAS seeks an Emergency & Humanitarian Programs Intern to assist the Emergency Department in a variety of initiatives. This position will join the Emergency Department and contribute to ongoing emergency response operations, as well as building emergency capacity across HIAS. Reporting to the Senior Director, Emergency & Humanitarian Programs, they will support the department's programs and operations by facilitating cross-divisional communication, partnering on MEAL in emergency documents, supporting HIAS' learning and capacity-building agenda, assisting in drafting and collaborating on emergency policies and SOPs and taking on other duties to support the Emergency Department team and field staff as needed.
Note, this is a paid internship with a stipend of $2,000.00/month. We ask that applicants be available for 35 hours/week for 12 weeks beginning in May 2024. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Organizes and coordinates capacity-building and trainings?for HQ, regional and country office staff.?
Coordinates with HIAS HQ, regional offices and country office staff to inventory existing policy and SOP documents and facilitate the addition of emergency processes in existing policies and SOPs.?
Supports with roster maintenance, analysis, deployment administration and others.??
Prepares emergency contexts analysis, drafts emergency alerts and supports information management.
Supports with meeting scheduling support, meeting notes and coordinates communication with meeting participants.
Coordinates with country offices and the Emergency Department to collect relevant data.?
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a related field required.
English fluency required; Spanish fluency a plus.?
Excellent oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and problem-solving skills.?
Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.?
Willingness to occasionally work outside of business hours if/when emergency programming is being activated and tight deadlines are required.?
Strong integrity and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.?
