The Dockmaster is responsible for overall operation of marina and all slip activity. This role will serve as the ambassador for the marina and is the first person with whom a Member or guest will interact. The Dockmaster is responsible for the safe mooring of vessels, general operation of the docks, assisting boaters, and maintaining a safe and clean environment throughout the harbor and marina facilities.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOversees the management of berthing, mooring, storage and servicing of boats within the marinaDirect, move, assist and securely moor vessels to dockDaily inspection and maintenance to provide a clean and safe facilityProvides the highest level of service to all members and guests, including expediting any and all requests from vesselsManage, train, and supervise dock staff while leading by exampleSafely operates Marina owned marine and land vehiclesAbility to multitask while also remaining professional in all situationsFirst line of customer service for incoming boatsResponsible for daily operations of marina docksEnsure safe fueling practices are being metSupervise renting of slips including transit activity and reservationsEnsures that Members and guests observe all marina rules and regulationsAbility to work weekends and holidaysAbility to work overtime as neededOther duties as assigned by ManagerSafety and Environmental ResponsibilitiesFollow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related trainingWear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work areaReport all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediatelyTechnical and Physical RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred2-5 years marina experience preferredAbility to work safely around the waterMust be able to swimAbility to lift 50 poundsBasic boat handling skills preferredKnowledge of dock construction and repair preferredKnowledge of basic power tools preferredMinimum Soft Skills QualificationsEagerness to engage in a growing, fast paced, and industry-leading companyConsistently treats others with dignity and respectGenuinely serves others with humility and a positive attitudeFrequently demonstrates a bias toward actionAlways communicates effectively and courteously to establish strong networks internally and externally to ensure that decisions are thoughtful of all stakeholdersFollows policies and procedures while seeking out new and better ways of accomplishing dutiesShows resolve and overcomes difficulties in a positive and productive mannerProvides responsive service to our teammates and membersContinuously puts forth the extra effort to accomplish dutiesDevelop sound conclusions and makes decisions based on analysis of data and understanding of the businessWorks to build high performing teams while taking an interest in teammates professional developmentOrganize, plan and manage teammates and processes efficientlyUnfailing commitment to continuous learning and growthActs with integrity and is open to feedback from all teammatesWillingly coaches teammates through change and leads all situations with positivityThe CompanySafe Harbor Marinas, LLC (SHM) is the largest owner and operator of marinas in the world.
