Summary, Focus and Purpose The Director of Medical Affairs will oversee the direction of the Medical Affairs and Companion Animal Business Unit ( CABU ) Training Team in the Veterinary Insights and Medical Affairs ( VIMA ) department and report to the Director of VIMA . You will be responsible for setting the strategy and business priorities of the Medical Affairs and CABU Training department, and management and development of five direct reports and will work closely across departments to ensure the timely roll out and delivery of new products and services, technical in-line portfolio support, and technical training for the Companion Animal Business Unit.
This position is strategic, visionary, and cross-functional. The role will set the strategy and priorities and provide the leadership for the Medical Affairs and CABU Training teams. Collaboration within the VIMA team, across internal departments, and with external stakeholders is key. This role requires you to develop and execute a strategy for maintaining and growing relationships with individual and organizational external partners.
Key Functions + Setting and executing on business priorities for the Medical Affairs team in-line with the priorities of the companion animal business unit
+ Management of the Medical Affairs and CABU Training team, to include individual and team development, DE&I initiatives, and modeling and creating an environment that embraces ways of working (safe to speak up, experiment, learn and adapt)
+ Lead Medical Affairs Team on Cross-Team collaboration with individuals in VIMA , R&D, Business Development, Marketing (US & Global), Professional Services (US & Global), US Sales, Regulatory, and Legal
+ Provide guidance and strategy on new product pipeline and label extensions
+ Ensure readiness of day one prioritized product launches
+ Provide support and new opportunities for the existing in-line portfolio
+ Lead CABU Training department team members on content development and collaboration across CABU departments to deliver technical training on new product launches and existing portfolio refreshers
+ Provide guidance and strategy on training content development
+ Assist in the integration and development of on-line platforms for training content delivery and reporting
+ Ensure readiness of training content in advance of product launches
+ Work with CABU Training, marketing, and sales departments to understand technical knowledge gaps and needs to develop appropriate training content for in-line portfolio
+ Design, implement, and execute on a Key Opinion Leader program to expand meaningful contact with KOLs, grow our companies KOL presence, and increase our company's favorability in the veterinary profession
+ Develop a strategy for the program that maintains meaningful contact with existing KOLs while identifying and growing relationships with new KOLs
+ Coordinate KOL programs and sponsorships across departments
+ Coordinate KOL contact across departments and form an overall strategic framework for KOL initiatives
+ Oversee Market Support Strategy for the parasiticide, biologicals, pharmaceuticals and technology portfolios
+ Ensure studies selected maximize potential ROI and are the best investment for the Animal Health portfolio to achieve competitive scientific advantages
+ Oversee and assist medical affairs study leads to ensure studies are planned, executed, and completed in a timely manner
+ Assist with VEEVA workflow to include conducting reviews and certifications of pieces to ensure timely execution of business priorities
+ Simplify business processes and data optimization to drive business impact
+ Optimize and streamline VEEVA processes
+ Oversee collaborations with digital enablement team
+ Oversee the expansion of strategic partnerships and initiatives with industry association partners and engage as a trusted partner with allied industry stakeholders
+ Identify, execute, and assess ROI for opportunities to partner on research or activities with external organizations
+ Support of business development opportunities as needed through consultation as a subject matter expert and support of team in these initiatives

Education License + Doctor of Veterinary Medicine ( DVM / VMD ) degree
+ Current license to practice veterinary medicine within the United States
Experience | Skills | Knowledge Required
+ Ten years combined experience in clinical practice and the companion animal pharmaceutical industry, to include three years in clinical practice and five years in the pharmaceutical industry
+ Principled communication skills both verbal and written, including effective presentation skills
+ Understand business priorities and be able to set and execute on key deliverables within a set timeline
+ Able to work effectively with key opinion leaders, our customers, and our company's team
+ Demonstrate business acumen to effectively develop and manage projects and deliverables
