Director Of Specialized

Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President of Business Strategy of one of leading asset-based logistics providers offering full transportation services (LTL, FTL, Specialized, and Expedited).
The Director of Specialized will oversee all the specialized business that runs through the organization (Flatbed, Cross Boarder, Oversized), currently a $20M business unit. Will provide direction and supervision to the division by delegating workload, measuring performance, and maintaining appropriate staffing levels through recruitment, selection, and retention activities. They will work with the business development team to provide industry expertise, guidance, and support with specialized business. Will establish and manage carrier relations and development activities that support the execution of strategies and action plans to enable the profitable growth of the Specialized Team. Will work in coordination with other company resources, develop the strategic and tactical direction for the Specialized Team, and establish management processes. The challenge is to lead a world-class team, develop high-level service offerings, motivate, while increasing revenues and improving profitability.

Background Required:

Freight Brokerage Sales and Operations (6+ years)

Sales Management (Hire, Train, Coach, Mentor) (2+ years)

Mode of Transportation (Open deck, Flatbed, Oversized, Cross Border)

Cross-border, Mexico knowledge and experience

Strong Selling Skills

Strong Negotiation Ability (Carrier, Customer, Margin Integrity)

Transportation Management System Experience (Preferably McCloud)

Computer literate (Microsoft Suite: Power Point, Word, Excel)

Education: College Degree

Residence: Southfield, MI

Background Preferred (but not required):

P&L responsibility
