Job Description
Manufacturing Strategy, Business Development and Alliances is responsible for the development and realization of the strategy for the Manufacturing division and oversees the core enterprise manufacturing functions. This includes the Strategy and Portfolio Management office, Global Supply Business Development (GSBD) which evaluates acquisitions, divestitures, and licensing opportunities, Manufacturing Business Alliance Management (MBAM) which manages our regional and global manufacturing strategic partnerships, Network Strategy and Third Party Sales (NSTPS) which oversees the global manufacturing footprint, global product source changes, and Third Party Contract Manufacturing and the Manufacturing Leadership Development Program (MLDP) which recruits and accelerates early talent for the division.
We are currently seeking a Director of Business Development within our Global Supply Business Development group who will lead the execution of business development projects for the manufacturing division.
The Director, Business Development is responsible for leading and executing business development and commercial activities which support overall company strategic and business objectives, and will lead or support internal and external Corporate, Manufacturing Division (MD), Research and Development Division (R&DD), and Human Health (HH) evaluations in the areas of licensing, supply, distribution, co-marketing, acquisitions, divestitures, and restructuring business relationships.- The Director of Business Development represents MD as the primary liaison/partner where MD acts as supplier or customer for pharmaceutical and vaccine products and/or services.-
The Director of Business Development will be responsible for leading and managing cross functional teams to conduct due diligence assessments, and conduct formal report-out to MD, R&DD, and HH Senior Leaders.
Key Functions
Executes business development and commercial activities in the evaluation and implementation of licensing, acquisition, supply, distribution, co-marketing, divestiture, and re-structuring business relationships.- Collaborates closely with Corporate Business Development functions, Legal, MD functional areas (e.g. Finance, External Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Quality, Technology, Analytical, Commercialization and Operations), as well as R&DD Process, Analytical and CMC Regulatory groups. Defines, assesses, and presents business analyses for potential transactions requiring manufacturing input.- Serves as the central point of contact between MD and all internal business areas to ensure appropriate manufacturing input is effectively incorporated into the potential transaction identifying risks, mitigation strategies, and value drivers.- Additionally, brings visibility and preparedness to post contract execution commitments so that MD can be prepared to fulfill new responsibilities as a result of the transaction.- Demonstrates leadership in negotiating supply and technical contracts that impact MD in addition to being a core team member to any transaction team that has a manufacturing/supply component.- Analysis includes resource requirements, supply, inventory, demand management, product costs, intellectual property, quality, capital needs, environmental, safety and industrial hygiene, inventory and production plan, compliance and financial reviews. Ensures and facilitates the transition of assigned licensing arrangements to the appropriate R&DD and/or MD functional support areas.- Facilitates the creation of R&DD or MD external alliance relationships for new partners.- Drives strong business relationships to ensure effective communications during implementation of the partnership. Completes other project activities as assigned and executes activities with minimal supervision.- Complies with all organization policies, procedures, and guidelines in execution of job functions.- Position Qualifications : Required:- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Science, Engineering, or related disciplines Preferred:- Graduate degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Science, Engineering or related disciplines Required Experience and Skills: Minimum twelve years of experience with increasing responsibility in Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain Management, Quality, Technology, Global Procurement, Lean-Six Sigma and/or related business areas.- Candidate must possess excellent leadership, collaboration and communication skills.- Proven experience leading cross functional teams is essential. Candidate must be accomplishment oriented (self-motivated and persistent), possess a "business owner" mentality, possess the ability to influence without authority, and demonstrate the ability to effectively operate in an ambiguous/changing environment- The position requires a general understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and strong financial acumen.---- Preferred Experience and Skills: Experience negotiating contracts with third parties Experience in negotiating manufacturing and supply terms General knowledge of licensing in the life-sciences industry

Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected salary range:
$159,200.00 - $250,700.00
