Diesel Mechanic

Diesel Mechanic Location: Worcester, MA
Compensation: $30 - $37/hr (+ OT)
Position Summary: Join our client's vision of being the leading edge of sustainable waste solutions to power the future. We are seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This role involves performing maintenance and repair duties on recycling equipment, compactors, and light trucks to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Job Responsibilities: Diagnose mechanical issues. Perform repairs and maintenance on light trucks, compactors, and recycling equipment, including routine maintenance and repair of hydraulic systems, brake systems, transmissions, electrical systems, engines, balers, and compactors. Replace or repair parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings. Overhaul or replace blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps. Interpret vehicle condition reports and repair orders, communicate with supervisors and equipment operators for clarification, and advise on preventive techniques to minimize future repairs. Complete paperwork associated with vehicle repairs, documenting parts usage, and accounting for applied times. Repair and install plumbing and electrical components related to hydraulic systems. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Perform other assigned duties as required. Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. certification and 1 year of related equipment maintenance and repair; OR 4 years of related equipment maintenance and repair. Valid driver's license and qualification to drive a DOT Truck. Physical Requirements: Handle tools and equipment with fine motor skills. Reach with hands and arms. Climb and walk at heights exceeding 4 feet. Occasionally lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
