Tessera Fall Co-op Program: Designed for students as an alternate academic study in their Bachelors or Masters Eligible students would be those attending schools with an established co-op program for academic credit. Duration: June 24 – December 13, 2024 || Monday – Friday, 35-40 hrs/week Hands-on Experience:Co-op participants will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on innovative projects at the forefront of biotechnology. Coffee Chats with Leadership:Regular informal sessions will be arranged where students can engage in candid conversations with Tessera Therapeutics' leadership team. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to gain insights into leadership styles, career paths, and industry trends. Career Development Workshops: Throughout the program, participants will have access to a series of workshops focused on enhancing key professional skills such as drafting a resume and interviewing. The Platform Development Co-op will be responsible for supporting the development and engineering of next-generation gene editing therapies. We are searching for a driven, enthusiastic and self-motivated student who is comfortable multitasking and working both independently and in a collaborative and highly dynamic team environment. This student will gain industry experience and exposure while developing and advancing our novel gene writing technology. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with and support a team of scientists and research associates to develop and engineer next-generation Gene Writing tools using interdisciplinary approaches. Design and execute well-controlled molecular and cell biology experiments (e.g., cloning, mammalian tissue culture, high-throughput screening). Analyze and interpret data to clearly summarize and communicate results (e.g., presentations, written reports) to multidisciplinary, cross-functional teams. Maintain a detailed electronic laboratory notebook and organization systems for samples and reagents. Basic Qualifications: Currently enrolled in a BS/MS degree program or equivalent in biology, biomedical sciences or engineering, or related field. Prior research experience and familiarity with molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, cloning, nucleic acid purification) Prior research experience and familiarity with cell biology techniques (e.g., mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays) Strong written and oral communication, organizational and record-keeping skills, and attention to detail are required. Passionate, flexible, and collaborative team player that can both operate independently and with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the following areas are preferred but not required: Next-generation sequencing and library preparation (Illumina, Oxford Nanopore) Mammalian cell transfection, lentivirus production and transduction Flow cytometry and FACS
