Church Administrator Location Las Cruces, NM : REPORTS to: Minister
WORKS with: Minister, Board President, other staff, committee and program chairs, volunteers and vendors
STATUS: full time 35 hours a week
SALARY RANGE: $42,000-$48,000, plus benefits per UUCLC HR policy, depending on experience and qualifications
JOB SUMMARY: The Church Administrator is responsible for maintaining the church office as a professional work environment. The administrator is to provide support and administration to the church's programs and committees.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: In collaboration with the Minister and Board,
· Manages the administrative and financial matters of the congregation with minimal guidance.
· Manages office procedures, schedules facility rentals, maintains the church master schedule, arranges purchasing.
· Advises the minister, governing board and committee chairs on the status of the operational budget.
· Prepares letters of agreement, insurance and license renewals and routine maintenance contracts.
· Addresses building-related issues in collaboration with the Facilities Committee.
· Supervises administrative volunteers.
· Knowledgeable with major office-related computer applications, i.e., Quick Books, Office Suite, and Fellowship1 (the latter application by the end of the probationary period), including management of ongoing church databases.
· Prepares reports to the minister and governing board and committees as needed.
· Knowledgeable about the organization and its policies.
· In collaboration with the treasurer and/or Finance Chair, ensure that the financial transactions of the church are properly recorded, reported, and executed, including payroll, accounts payable, and revenues.
RELATED QUALITIES: The Church office is a primary hub for the day-to-day operations of the church and the Church Administrator represents the first contact for many public facing activities outside of the Sunday service. As such, the successful Church Administrator must be comfortable in working with a variety of people and courteous with being interrupted during the course of the day. While it is not a requirement that the Administrator identify as a Unitarian Universalist, the successful Church Administrator must demonstrate knowledge of and support for UU purposes and principles in their interactions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates must have some combination of:
· A minimum of an associate degree or other formal training in business administration,
· a minimum of two years business/managerial experience,
· training certifications in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, or other relevant certifications.
