Position Summary RNs receive and process patients, take vital statistics, update medication notes, and assist the Provider in patient care. The duties of LPN/RNs vary from office to office, depending on the location and size of the practice and the practitioner's specialty. LPN/RNs usually do many different kinds of tasks, handling both administrative and clinical duties and reporting directly to an office manager, physician, or other health practitioner.
Position Accountabilities Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Performs nursing procedures within scope of practice after competency validation; assists Physicians or Advanced Practice Provideres (APP) with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
Obtains initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and assist with coordinating plan of care.
Arranges for patients' ordered diagnostic and therapeutic services.
Reviews results of ordered studies and labs reporting abnormal results to physician.
Serves as clinical liason for patients. Performs follow up phone calls and provides direction and education for any new prescribed medication.
Administers medications as prescribed.
Oversees the delivery of patient care for cardiac clinic patients; directs and delegates patient care assignments to non licensed nursing staff working in the department within their scope of practice.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress.
Maintains patient documentation.
Maintains confidentiality of patient and unit care data.
Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies.
Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.
Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies.
Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel.
Assisting with rooming of patients, obtaining medical history, and vital signs.
Enhances personal growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Attends meetings as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education - Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training
Minimum Experience - Sufficient previous clinical experience
Required Course(s)/Training - Completion of accredited program for RN
Required Certification/Registration - Current Oklahoma RN license; BLS certification
