Potential Work Location : BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
The Category Supplier Operations Manager is responsible for the execution and continuous improvement of various supplier-based category management processes and maintenance activities. This position will create new processes, improve or update existing practices for better efficiency, and drive standards and service levels for Category Management, other internal stakeholders and suppliers. The Category Supplier Operations Manager will regularly interface with Category Management and other Operations Teams, IT, Sales and Customer Care. The position will be an individual contributor, and will foster a high-performance culture, leverage technology, drive change, ensure alignment, and cultivate engagement of associates.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Continuous Improvement: * Evaluates current practices against external benchmarks and business intelligence and assesses improvement opportunities. * Develops process maps to identify bottlenecks, duplication of work, or unaddressed needs in current processes. * Uses process mapping and lean tools to build capability and processes in a standardized and scalable way. * Implements supplier programs best practice. * Recommends systems changes or enhancements with supporting business cases. * Develops skills and competencies as needed in order to expand their capabilities. * Develops and implements training programs for both current and new associates in the Supplier Data Management COE. * Interprets and provides analytical details to lead meetings with other Category Managers to review project tasks. Operational Excellence: * Understands how to leverage systems, data, and analytics with cross-functional partners in the organization. * Establishes standards and metrics associated with key processes to measure performance. * Recommends system changes or enhancements with supporting business case. * Supports supplier communications. * Manages Supplier data to inform direction and decisions.
Supplier Data Management and Operations: · Executes new supplier set up, maintenance, and sunsetting · Leverages technology platforms to automate and streamline current processes. · Supports compliance with Terms & Conditions of supplier contracts · Drives and executes Supplier Data Management SOPs · Supports resolution of Supplier Accounts Payable discrepancies · Manages Supplier Data Management activities while identifying and implementing continuous improvement activities · Leverages technology platforms to drive efficiencies within our processes · Works cross-functionally with the Business Units, Suppliers, Accounts Payable, Sales Associates and Customer Service to provide world-class supplier data. · Performs consistent and accurate data input and assessment. · Supports the Senior Manager in building a high performing team with clear goals and measurable output. · Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC's vision and unity of purpose. · Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS What You Need: * Bachelors' Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field. * Minimum of seven to ten years of experience to include: o Industrial Distribution, Supply Chain, or Sales o Knowledge of the Procurement / Supply Chain process o Experience with organizational or systems improvements * Customer focused * Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively. * Agile Learner who can think on their feet and be flexible * Attention to detail * Strong execution focus; drive for results required. * Proven examples of delivering significant performance improvements * Demonstrated ability to leverage technology (i.e. Excel, Power Query, Power BI, Python) and implementing Lean techniques required. * Strong problem-solver; able to diagnose quickly and find root cause required. * Able to apply analytics to diagnose problems and propose solutions required. * Prioritizes deliverables and allocates resources appropriately required. * Solid business acumen and knowledge of distribution process required. * Successfully navigates the organization's people and processes to accomplish work efficiently. * Works cross-functionally and has effectively participated on cross-functional teams required. * Successful internal negotiator required. * Strong written and verbal communication with presentation experience required. * Establishes clear goals, performance indicators, and embraces training and development required * Comfortable working within a team through an evolution of change required.
Bonus Points If You Have: * Six Sigma belt certification (green or above) preferred * MS Office proficiency required; Excel, Access, Business Objects, and Sales Force (preferred) Other Requirements: * A valid driver's license may be required. * Position requires up to 10% of travel * This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information ("ITAR") and/or Controlled Unclassified Information ("CUI")
