Apex is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our Automation Solutions team. The position is a unique role that will focus on implementing automated material handling projects, improve our client's warehousing and distribution performance, and improve their throughput capabilities.Responsibilities:Support sales with quoting of potential automation projectsPlan, manage, and implement material handling equipment (MHE) projectsDevelop deliverables for implementation of various MHE products and subsystems:* Project Schedule: Utilize base project template and update to fit with specific projectDrawings: Mechanical, electrical and controlsPrepare and Document: Installation, commissioning, testing, training, and go-liveGather information for the creation of purchase ordersLead pre-installation walk through, project expectations, and Q&A with vendors and clientManage project plan including work tasks, schedule, budget, issues, risks and resourcesPrepare and communicate the proper project status on weekly basisManage project scope, mitigate issues and resolve installation problemsManage change orders from request through execution including document managementOn-site inspection and supervision, as required, to ensure installation is in accordance with drawings and design specifications, and management of vendor and sub-contractor resourcesLead commissioning and system acceptance processCoordinate development and execution of client training (operations, maintenance, and safety)Perform active role in maintaining client relationshipsMaintain shared-drive electronic files for all project documentsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in engineering, logistics or related fieldThe ability to travel is mandatory. Level of travel will be driven by project complexity and riskUnderstanding of MHE projects, including flow analysis and controls conceptsProficient in creating, and managing AutoCAD drawings within Autodesk VaultProficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)Familiarity with implementation of MHE technologiesAbility to work well in a team settingSolid communication and organizational skillsDesired Qualifications:Experience as a project manager and engineer in an automated MHE environmentExperience with systems such as WMS, WCS, or WESLayout and design experience of a distribution center, warehouse, or manufacturing plantExperience with systems configuration, commissioning, and testingAbility and experience training end-users on new equipment and systemsExperience with specification preparation of MHE and systemsWorking for Apex: We recognize that our people are our most valuable asset—our employees drive our success.
