Assistant Professor - Occupational Therapy UnityPoint Health - Allen College Shift: Full-time Benefits Eligible Allen College is seeking candidates for a full-time faculty and academic fieldwork clinical coordinator position beginning immediately in the Occupational Therapy Program. The Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) serves as a resource and liaison for the department faculty and clinical agencies in coordinating clinical education with didactic education as assigned by the Program Director. The AFWC provides support to the faculty of Allen College's Occupational Therapy Program by:
Assisting in establishing and maintaining clinical affiliation agreements; Ensuring student compliance with clinical requirements; Facilitating communication regarding clinical placements; Assisting in evaluation of clinical education effectiveness; and Assisting in course instruction based on the needs of the college. The AFWC is responsible for the duties and responsibilities commensurate with his or her rank. The AFWC reports to the Director of the Occupational Therapy Program.

Participates in faculty organization committees and is a member of the Allen College Faculty Organization. Participates in the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of individual courses and the overall curriculum within the College. Participates in faculty development, governance and College decision making. Participates in faculty organization committees. Promotes and maintains collaborative relationships between College and clinical agencies. Teaching: Classroom and clinical preparation, instruction, supervision, and evaluation. Coordination and supervision of students' clinical experiences consistent with established standards of care and course/program objectives. Other activities directly related to the academic program. Serves as academic advisor for students. Participates in professional activity and community service. Participates in scholarly activities (may include the following): On-going study and research to develop expertise and maintain proficiency and growth in one's field of professional specialization. Writing, editing, reviewing texts and articles. Serving as a consultant in the profession. Attendance and participation in meetings, conferences, and conventions of professional associations. Participates in the coordination, advisement, and supervision of student organization and other activities of the College not related to academics. Serves as a liaison between the Occupational Therapy Program and clinical agencies/clinical instructors to ensure the adequacy and quality of clinical education of students. Assists in establishing and maintaining clinical affiliation agreements. In cooperation with the Program Director, ensures that the clinical agencies/clinical instructors are regularly evaluated. Maintains a schedule of regular visits to the clinical affiliate/clinical education centers. Provides course instruction based on the needs of the college. Cooperates with the program director in periodic review and revision of clinical course materials. Supports the development and maintenance of positive community relationships. Maintains current knowledge of the discipline and educational methodologies through continuing professional development. Maintains current knowledge of program policies, procedures, and student progress. Demonstrates a commitment to the mission, vision, goals, and values of Allen College and adheres to College policies, procedures, and guidelines. EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION: A doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education is required; however, a master's degree may be considered with the requirement of plans to complete a doctoral degree within an established timeline. TEACHING EXPERIENCE Documented experience as a clinical instructor, AFWC or didactic instructor is preferred. Documented expertise in areas of teaching responsibilities; knowledge of the content delivery method is preferred. Teaching experience at a post-secondary level is preferred. Current licensure/certification or permit to practice, as required by regulatory and/or accrediting agencies. Have two (2) years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy which must include: Clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist. Professional experience as a fieldwork educator or documentation of training in the roles and responsibilities of a fieldwork educator. Evidence of involvement in professional activity and community service.
