Responsibilities
• Assign and track news crews• Identify and develop daily content• Write and post content to website and social media• Listen to scanners and react to breaking news• Develop and maintain contacts and sources• Responsible for short and long-term planning• Assist in efficient operations of assignment desk
Requirements
• Minimum of three years of assignment desk experience• Commitment to journalistic standards of ethics and accuracy• Ability to communicate effectively• General knowledge and interest in news• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines• Understanding of iNews and/or ENPS• Proficiency with Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging social media platforms• Bachelor's degree with a major in journalism preferred
