DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an Air Quality Specialist Trainee, you will undergo an extensive 12-month training program that emphasizes practical experience. Throughout the program, you will develop a thorough understanding of relevant regulations and policies, enabling you to effectively support experienced professionals in fulfilling their duties. This includes conducting both routine and non-routine inspections in accordance with department policy. Additionally, you will assist in creating a schedule to collect essential eFACTS and air information management system (AIMS) data from designated facilities. You will also contribute to planning, developing, and implementing compliance monitoring activities at these facilities. Lastly, you will be responsible for conducting field evaluations, investigating air pollution complaints, and conducting follow-up inspections on active cases.



Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bethlehem. Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of technical experience in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or A bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and/or training. Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid PA non - commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent is required.
