Role: Sr Synapse Admin Location: Minneapolis, MN Duration: long term Deployment and Configuration: Deploying Azure Synapse Analytics environments and configuring them according to organizational requirements. This includes setting up data integration pipelines, data warehousing components, and other related services. Monitoring and Optimization: Monitoring the performance of Azure Synapse Analytics environments, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing resource utilization to improve efficiency and reduce costs. This may involve adjusting configurations, tuning queries, and implementing best practices for data management. Security Management: Implementing and managing security measures to protect data stored and processed within Azure Synapse Analytics. This includes configuring access controls, encryption, authentication mechanisms, and compliance standards. Data Integration: Facilitating the integration of data from various sources into Azure Synapse Analytics, ensuring data consistency, integrity, and quality. This may involve designing and implementing data ingestion pipelines, data transformations, and data cleansing processes. Backup and Disaster Recovery: Implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data availability and integrity in the event of system failures or other unforeseen incidents. This includes regular backups, recovery testing, and disaster recovery planning. Documentation and Training: Documenting configurations, procedures, and best practices for Azure Synapse Analytics administration and providing training and support to users and stakeholders as needed. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborating with other IT teams, data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, address issues, and ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Effective communication skills are essential for this role. Play a critical role in implementation, operation and optimization of Azure Synapse analytics environment to support data driven decision making. Infrastructure as Code (IaC)Utilizing tools like Terraform or Azure Resource Manager templates to define and provision Azure Synapse Analytics infrastructure in a repeatable and automated manner. This involves writing code to define the infrastructure configuration, which can then be version-controlled, tested, and deployed using DevOps practices. Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)Implementing CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment of changes to Azure Synapse Analytics environments. This includes automating the building, testing, and deployment of data pipelines, SQL scripts, and other artifacts related to Synapse Analytics development Monitoring and AlertingIntegrating monitoring and alerting tools into Azure Synapse Analytics environments to track performance metrics, detect anomalies, and trigger automated responses as part of a DevOps approach to managing and maintaining the system. Collaboration and AutomationWorking closely with development teams, data engineers, and other stakeholders to automate repetitive tasks, streamline workflows, and improve efficiency in managing Azure Synapse Analytics environments. Version Control and Configuration ManagementUsing version control systems like Git to manage changes to configuration files, scripts, and other artifacts related to Azure Synapse Analytics administration.
