About this role: The Accounting Manager reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for providing expertise in financial and project accounting, implementing company finance policy, and preparing timely and accurate monthly financial statements, contract profit reports, and financial analysis in accordance with company accounting policy and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This individual will manage bank accounts and support processes and internal controls related to Financial Reporting, Labor Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Project Accounting and Invoicing, Fixed Assets, Inventory, Tax Compliance, 401K and General Business Insurance Administration.
What you'll do: Provide CFO with monthly financial reporting and ad hoc analysis Support CFO in implementing the Accounting, Compliance, and Financial Reporting processes Support CFO in managing banking operations and internal controls over writing checks and approving wire transfers Weekly cash flow analysis and forecasting related to bank balances, accounts receivable and cash collections Prepare timely and accurate monthly and year-end financial statements, contract profit reports, and financial analysis in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, supported by subledgers that reconcile to the general ledger Manage accounting systems, upgrades, security controls, user training, and supporting internal controls Manage the month and year end financial statement accounting close calendar, task assignments and schedule Manage Accounting System processes and internal controls that comply with US Government Cost Accounting (FAR) requirements Provide input for continuous improvement of our processes Interface with Defense Contract Audit Agency representatives in their audits of accounting processes and cost vouchers Perform/train and supervise accounting team members in: Processes and tasks performed in support of month end and year end accounting close schedule including account reconciliations Understanding new contracts and working cross functionally to set up the contract into project accounting applications used to collect and invoice customers for contract costs and profit Preparing and submitting customer invoices, and reporting contract funding status Timely deposit of customer checks and posting of payment to the Accounts Receivable ledger Interfacing with customers to collect contract invoices Reviewing and processing accounts payable/credit card/travel expense reimbursement transactions in accordance with delegated authority, confirmation of receipt of goods/services, and proper accounting of transaction Setting up new employees into labor accounting, payroll, and employee benefit processes Processing labor transactions according to company policy used to calculate payroll Processing payroll and reports used to support payroll account reconciliation Prepare and submit sales, use, and property tax returns Takes on other duties and responsibilities as needed supporting finance operations Requirements We are looking for: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with 2 or more years of experience as an Accounting Manager for a company that provides services and manufactures products, or 3 or more years of experience as an Accounting Manager with completion of intermediate and advanced accounting coursework/similar certifications Experience with integrated ERP Accounting Systems Expertise with Project Accounting Demonstrated experience with US government Cost Accounting (Accounting for Unallowable Costs) Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills Must be a US Citizen CPA certification CMA certification In depth understand of Cost Accounting Overhead Rates Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision Covered for employee, and a portion of dependents' coverage is covered as well 11 paid Federal Holidays Paid Time Off (PTO) Date of hire through second year: 10 days/year (accrued) Third year and beyond: unlimited 40 hours of paid sick leave per year 401k with employer matching Annual bonuses Cell phone reimbursement: $100/month Benefits of working as a Accounting Manager in San Diego, CA:
