The Position
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Department of Support Services is recruiting to underfill for an Accounting Assistant II. This position will require clerical accounting experience which includes a working knowledge of Integrated Financial System (IFS), and DAWN. Duties include coding documents to distribute funds; preparing and processing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents, as well as researching and resolving outstanding payments; using computer spreadsheets to record, track, manipulate and report data; balancing accounts; and identifying and applying established financial recordkeeping procedures. Gather and distribute incoming mail accordingly. Ensure all purchases are made in accordance with SAM and internal controls. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of clerical experience, six months of which included duties such as accounts payable and/or accounts receivable and balancing accounts; and using computer spreadsheet to record, track and report data; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education supplemented by successful completion of a one-semester college course in bookkeeping and six months of clerical experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
